About Rosati's Pizza

In 1927, Fred's son, Sam, opened yet another restaurant in Chicago featuring the finest Italian dishes. Over the years, this downtown restaurant became a popular gathering. When Sam retired, his sons moved to the suburbs with a new and timely idea. The year was 1959, and pizza was catching on. The Rosati family saw its potential and realized they had the kind of pizza product that would make the most of that potential - a superb family recipe tried and tested by thousands of Rosati customers. But instead of a full-size restaurant, they would try a small, carryout business.

Grandson Al opened the first outlet in suburban Westchester. It was an immediate success. Brothers Dick and Ronald followed suit in Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights, and other family members added units as well. In 1970, Rick Rosati, great grandson of Fred Sr. and the first of three fourth-generation owners opened his own unit. By 1978, a total of ten Rosati family members owned carryout style Rosati Pizzas.

Then, with the Rosati name firmly established in the Chicago suburbs, the family took another giant step forward. In February, 1979, the family started franchising carryout/delivery stores and the first full-size Rosati Pizza Restaurant opened in Schaumburg, Illinois. Many more locations were opened, both full-size and carryout. By 1993, there were over fifty restaurants in three states.

Gourmet Pizza Place

Posted by Rachelle34 on 2/14/2009

Their food is addictive. First, their Chicago style is actually Chicago style (Cheese on bottom, then the toppings, and sauce on top). It is delicious. Second, their calzones are the best in the Kansas City area. Third, their pasta's taste like that old Italian home-made style. The cheese is so thick on their pizzas and in their calzones, be careful not choke, because it just keeps stringing, never ending stringing of cheese. It is pretty affordable, just a little bit more expensive than most other take-out pizza places, but it is much better quality than most other take-out pizza places.

I am addicted to their calzones, my husband and I cannot get enough of it. It is the best calzone I have ever had, their marinara sauce is also amazing. Try it you will not regret it.

Great Food! Cranky Service!

The food is worth it! New to Overland park, I checked City Serch and found Rosati's and all of the reviews were great. The order taker and the driver were both cranky as hell. Kinda of irritated, I paid for the pizza. After opening the box and tasting this very thick pizza made it worth it. This "small" pizza could feed a family of four. I will be eatingit for days. Well worth putting up with cranky order takers and drivers. Will order again, knowing that it will take 11/4 hours and that the people may be cranky, but will enjoy every bite.
